State Room in Boston, MA with Uplighting by Men in Black

Uplighting

Uplighting is a series of LED lights that are strategically placed around your venue/room that illuminate walls, or enhance columns, corners or any space that you want transformed into a unique and vibrant look

Our uplighting system is 100% true wireless and battery operated which means there are no cables running across the floor to trip your guests. All of the lighting fixtures are remote controlled from a tablet and can be fully customized to any color you choose. Single color or two color combinations can be set up to match your personalized color scheme and design. The choice of color combinations is endless.

The lighting fixtures are compact, low profile and unobtrusive (5.4” x 5.7” x 7.2”) and they can be tilted with a built-in adjustable kickstand so light can shine where it is desired. Since we use energy-efficient, cool-to-the-touch LED uplighting fixtures, there's no danger that a curious child will accidentally burn himself by touching the light.

Fixtures are subject to availability, so please let us know well in advance if you want to reserve uplighting for your wedding or special event.

DROPKICK MURPHYS WEDDING

September 18, 2010, Boston Harbor Hotel, Boston, MA

Men in Black was Chosen By Tim Brennan of the popular Boston rock group "Dropkick Murphys" to perform at his wedding reception which took place at the Boston Harbor Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts this past September.

The following article appeared in Boston Magazine

By Amy J. Downey

Spring/Summer 2011

Though Diana Ganz is a Michigan native, it was an easy decision to have her wedding – to Tim Brennan, lead guitarist for the punk band Dropkick Murphys – in the Hub. "We fell in love in Boston," Diana says. "And we fell in love with Boston – it wouldn't have been 'us' if we had the wedding anywhere else." Shortly after she moved to Massachusetts, a mutual friend introduced her to Tim at an event in the city. And a few years later, Boston is where Tim proposed: He was performing alongside Bruce Springsteen at a TD Garden show when he popped the question. "I grabbed Diana's hand and pulled her up onstage with me," he says. "Bruce talked about how we're here to build a 'house of love.' Then he handed me the mike, and I said, 'Diana, I love you very much.' I got down on my knee, and 20,000 people started screaming." After she said yes, Tim and the Boss (very fittingly) played "So Young and in Love."

Since the band went into the studio to record shortly after the nuptials, there wasn't time for a honeymoon, but the newlyweds are planning a getaway in early 2011, perhaps to Hawaii. Tim's fans, however, can rest easy – he'll be back in time for the band's annual gig on St. Patrick's Day.

BOSTON WEDDING BAND GOES HOLLYWOOD

Manchester, MA - June 17, 2009.

Hollywood has come to the bay state once again, this time to film the upcoming Sandra Bullock movie “The Proposal”. The latest scene was filmed on Monday in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA where the “wedding reception” scene took place.

Men In Black, who recently received an award from “The Knot” magazine for “Best Wedding Band in Massachusetts 2008” as voted by local brides was chosen to be the wedding band in the movie. Jeff Fraser of Essex, MA who sings lead vocals for the band says “I’ve performed at hundreds of wedding receptions, but never at one where the bride and groom were movie stars.“

Monday’s scene was filmed in an old mansion near Singing Beach overlooking Manchester harbor. There were quite a few extras on hand, all dressed as if they were going to a summer wedding in Alaska, carrying around their champagne glasses filled with apple juice. The movie set was very elaborate and not a detail was overlooked including totem poles, fake leaves on trees, and a dance floor and stage built over the family swimming pool.

“It was a long day” says Jeff Fraser “We did the same scene over and over, to make sure that every camera angle was covered and to be sure that none of the extras were smiling as they watched the matriarch of the family was being rushed to the hospital by sea plane.” “By the end of the day I think I knew Ryan Reynolds lines as well as he did”, continues Fraser, “He was so patient and it was a pleasure to watch him work.”

“All in all it was a great opportunity to be chosen to be a part of a major motion picture”, says Fraser, “I just hope that the wedding band shots make it in the final cut of the movie and I have something to show for the long day besides a half-sunburned face.
